One of the aim of  Erasmus+ project “European Union Citizen” was questionnaire about knowledge about basic values of EU. The partners form Belgium (Asturia wzw), Poland (Fundacja Bądź Aktywny) and Portugal (Cassa de Professores) prepared the common questionnaire and translated it for the national languages. The answers were collected by all and the international team analyse it and prepare the report of the research. They had 106 respondents (31 from Belgium, 42 from Poland, 33 from Portugal).

The biggest group was people in age 61-70 year (31,13%), next was 51-60 years (26,42%). The smallest in age 71-80 (2,8%). Younger people took part in the research too but it wasn’t big group: 9,4% in age 20-30 years, 11,32% in age 31-40 and 18,87% in age 41-50.

The participants don’t have so much problem to say when their country become the member of EU.  It was quite easy for them. Similar situation was with the number of the participants on the beginning of EU. The 93,4% of the respondents answered well.  In the question about the actual number of the members of EU was not so difficult too,  85,85% know.

The next questions about the value of priorities of EU were more difficult. Near a half of them show that there are: the rule of law (47, 17%), equality (46,23%), freedom (40,57%). Less respondents know the values like  human rights (29,25%), human dignity (22,64%).

The research shows that people, especially adults and seniors, need more activities focus on the topics like values and priorities of EU. It’s not so easy to promote it in the target group, because they don’t like so much lectures, they have different opinion about European politicians, etc.
